Sioux County Kicks Off Season, Sort Of, In Chappell Posted by Jeremy Anderson Date: August 27, 2020 59 Views Sioux County will get the honors of ushering in the Panhandle football season when they head to Chappell to take on McCool Junction in a scrimmage this afternoon. McCool Junction was originally set to play Santee, but COVID-19 issues forced the cancellation of that contest and allowed for the Mustangs to look elsewhere. Sioux County was set to have a bye week to start their season, but had also lost a game off their schedule when Guernsey-Sunrise, WY opted out of crossing the state line for their September 18th contest. The Warriors are starting a rebuild year after making it to the state quarterfinals last season. The Mustangs are the top ranked 6-man team according to both the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 pm.
