Southern Airways Begins Chadron Service

The wait is over –  Southern Airways begins flying the Chadron-Denver route today. The East Coast-based carrier was awarded the 2-year Essential Air Service subsidy in April and had hoped to get started around June 1st.

Chief Commercial Officer Mark Cestari says Southern has no other operations anywhere in this region, so it had to start from scratch in Denver and Chadron. He’s pleased with the result and with the enthusiasm of potential passengers.

Southern is having a soft opening in Chadron with no big celebration today, in part because the airline has an even bigger opening coming – its first route into Washington-Dulles, but Cestari says just wait a couple weeks.

While Southern has transferred in the top staff for Chadron, Cestari is pleased to say there were some local hires.

Southern’s EAS bid projected 6,000 boardings at an average fare of $62 flying a 9-seat King Air 200.
