The annual Chadron State College Spring Football Game, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 23, will now be held this Friday, April 22, due to an unfavorable weather forecast for Saturday. Friday is expected to be much warmer with a chance of showers. The kickoff time is set for 5 p.m.

After an injury-bugged round of spring drills, about 55 players are expected to participate. The Eagles are particularly banged-up along the lines, where they have nine players available on offense, and seven on defense.

All six quarterbacks, however, along with all four running backs, and most of the wide receivers, should be available for offensive coordinator Micah Smith.

For defensive coordinator Clint Sasse, most positions should be at least two deep on Friday.

The spring game format will begin with stretches at 4:30 p.m., followed by some position group work. At 5 p.m. the live football action will begin, with 10 minute quarters and a running clock. The clock will only stop for special teams.

In between quarters, there will be skill challenges among members of the team. Following the first quarter will be a punt, pass, and kick competition. At halftime, the wide receivers and defensive backs will attempt pass rush drills. The third quarter will be followed by linemen fielding punts. Finally, after the live action ends, the linemen will go out for passes in one-one-one drills.

Admission to the spring game is free. Concessions will be sold in the concourse.
