Runners from around the states of Nebraska and South Dakota will get their shot at the state cross country meet with districts and regionals being hosted today.
The Chadron girls are the favorite to win the team title in the C-5 district at Ogallala and are in search of their third consecutive trip to Kearney. The Cardinals boys will also look to take the entire team after falling one spot short the past two seasons.
Sidney will challenge in both races as will Broken Bow.
The girls race will start at 3:00 pm and the boys race at 4:00 pm.
Crawford’s Payton Homan and Gordon-Rushville’s Tyrah American Horse are the area’s contenders at the Class D meet in Bridgeport.
Hemingford is positioned well with solid performances today to send both their boys and girls teams off to next week’s state meet.
The girls race is at 3:00 pm followed by the boys at 3:45.
Hot Springs will have a trio of runners in contention at today’s 5A regional at Hart Ranch in Rapid City.
The top 20 individuals and top 3 teams earn a spot at state.
Callie DeBoer, Kyra Utecht, and Hannah Haertel are all just seconds out of the top 20.
