Behrends Lone Chadron Golfer To Qualify For State

Chadron’s Jacksyn Behrends shot a round of 88 and took 5th place at the B-4 district golf meet in McCook on Monday to qualify for next week’s state meet at Scottsbluff Country Club.

Behrends and Broc Berry fired identical 42’s on the front 9, but both dropped off after the turn as Behrends added 6 strokes while Berry finished with a 57 for a round of 99. Chase Olson had the 2nd best Chadron round of the day with a 96.

John Beier of Sidney had the top score of the day with an 80. Scottsbluff’s Austin Thyne was 2nd with an 81.

The Cardinals fired a season worst 382, good enough for 4th place, that left them 21 strokes out of team qualifying.

Scottsbluff, Ogallala, and McCook took the three team qualifying spots with scores of 349, 358, and 361.
