A Gering three run homer fueled a 7-run top of the 2nd inning that broke a 3-3 tie on their way to defeating the Chadron High softball team 16-5 on Tuesday night at Hampton Field.
The Bulldogs stretched their lead with single runs in the top of the 3rd and 4th innings, but Chadron tried to rally with a pair in the bottom of the 4th.
Four more Gering runs in the 5th would do the trick as they picked up their 5th win over Chadron this season.
Maci Rutledge, Sarah LeBere, Demaris Kelso, and Josslyn Pourier all had an RBI for Chadron.
The Cardinals dropped to 10-11 on the year and will be in Ogallala on Thursday where they will face North Platte and McCook.
