Bison XC Compete At Lead-Deadwood To Finish Regular Season


The Hot Springs girls cross country team had two top 15 finishers at Tuesday’s regular season ending Lead-Deadwood Invite.

Hannah Haertel placed 14th with her run of 24:18. Kyra Utecht was right behind in 15th in a time of 24:24.

Kira Ubence of Douglas held off Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish to win the girls race with a time of 21:02.

James Ohrmund, the only Bison boy, crossed the line in 27th with a time of 21:33.

Douglas’ Peyton Cast took the boys individual title with a time of 18:18, just two seconds in front of Keenan Urdiales of Spearfish.

It will be a couple of weeks before Hot Springs runs again at the 5A regional meet hosted by Red Cloud.
