The Denver Broncos were awarded rookie cornerback Mac McCain III off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.
The undrafted rookie from North Carolina A&T State University had been plucked off the Broncos practice squad two months ago by the Eagles.
He played in one game in Philadelphia and was waived this week although Eagles coach Nick Sirianni told reporters in Denver on a conference call Wednesday that he hoped to sign him back to the Eagles’ active roster soon.
A few hours later, the Broncos were awarded McCain. The Broncos and Eagles play Sunday in Denver.
