Anika Burke nailed a buzzer beating three pointer to give Chadron a 32-30 win over Mitchell on Saturday night. The game winning shot was her only basket of the night.
The Lady Cardinals jumped out with a 5-0 run constructed by Freshman Demi Ferguson only to see Mitchell answer with six straight all from McKenna Chambers to end the first quarter.
A trio of three’s pushed the Tigers lead out to 18-11 at the half.
Chadron opened the third quarter with a 11-3 run to go on top 22-21 just to watch Mitchell once again end with a run, this time 5-0.
Trailing 30-27, Ferguson dropped in a lay up to pull Chadron within a point, and set up Burke’s winner.
Ferguson led all scorers with 16 points, a career high.
Chadron is 6-5 on the season and will host Hemingford on Tuesday.
