Cardinals Blank Chase County 42-0

Justus Alcorn threw for four first half touchdowns and Dawson Dunbar blew the candles out on Chase County with an 85-yard 2nd half touchdown run as Chadron ran past the Longhorns 42-0 in their opener on Friday night in Imperial.

The game was delayed for 15 minutes as players, coaches, and fans had to wait on the officiating crew to arrive.

Chadron went on top midway through the 1st quarter with a touchdown connection from Alcorn to Xander Provance. Leading 7-0 just over a minute into the 2nd quarter, Alcorn found Rhett Cullers to push the lead out to 14-0.

Seth Gaswick took a screen pass in for the score just 5 minutes later to continue the Cardinal offensive onslaught and was capped with a 49-yard Alcorn to Provance pass just before halftime.

Dawson Dunbar shut the lights off with an 85-yard sprint to the endzone late in the 3rd quarter and the running clock rule came into effect.

Chadron makes their home debut next Friday as the welcome Gordon-Rushville.
