Chadron connected on nine three pointers and Gaurav Chima had a career high 28 points as the Cardinals held off Mitchell 79-72 in the 3rd place game of the Western Conference Tournament.
Chadron entered losing three straight against the Tigers.
In a back and forth first quarter, Mitchell took the advantage 22-21. By the time half rolled around, Mitchell took that lead out to 36-31.
A 12 point effort from Justus Alcorn gave Chadron a 57-54 lead heading to the final quarter. Alcorn finished the game with 18-points.
Xander Provance had 15, and threw down three emphatic dunks. Dawson Dunbar also reached double figures with 10.
The third place finish is the best for Chadron since 2014.
The Cardinals host Gordon-Rushville on Friday at the Bird Cage.
