Chadron Boys Rally Past Sidney


Double figure scoring from Justus Alcorn and Xander Provance and a 17-5 fourth quarter advantage pushed the Chadron boys basketball team past Sidney 47-40 in the Western Conference Tournament on Friday. The win sends the Cardinals to the third place game at noon on Saturday at Scottsbluff High School.

Chadron jumped on the board early with a 5-2 lead, but Sidney went on a 10-3 run before Alcorn nailed a three pointer as time expired in the opening quarter to trail just 11-10.

A back and forth second quarter went in favor of the Red Raiders to build a 24-20 halftime lead.

The Cardinals had the momentum in the third, going on an 8-1 run for a 28-25 lead, but Sidney again went on a streak of their own to close the quarter up 35-30

Alcorn led all scorers with 15 points. Provance added 14.

Chadron should know their opponent by the end of Friday night.
