Chadron Drops Home Finale To Gothenburg Posted by Jeremy Anderson Date: October 16, 2020 9:02 pm Leave a comment 407 Views The Gothenburg football team scored on their first five drives of the game on their way to clinching the C1-8 district title on Friday night with a 35-14 win over Chadron. The Swedes controlled the line of scrimmage on offense, attempting just a pair of passes and scoring all their touchdowns on the ground. Trailing 21-0 just before half the Cardinals added a little tempo to the offense, including a hook and ladder, driving to the Gothenburg 20 but failed to convert it into points. Gothenburg added another score midway through the third quarter before Chadron finally cashed in with a passing touchdown from Justus Alcorn to Michael Sorenson to cut the deficit down to 28-6. The Swedes would punch in one more rushing touchdown early in the fourth to capture a 35-6 lead, but Chadron wasn’t done. Alcorn would sneak a touchdown in from the one yard line to pull within the final margin. Chadron falls to 5-2 on the season and will finish up at Ogallala next Friday with the hopes of clinching a wildcard into the playoffs.
