Chadron Girls Head Back To State XC, Sloan Joins Them

For the 3rd consecutive year, the Chadron girls cross country team is off to the state meet in Kearney. Behind four top 20 finishers the Cardinals claimed the C5 district runner-up trophy.

Makinley Fuller used a new personal best time of 19:53 to take 4th place. The winning time came from Lindee Henning of Ogallala with a time of 18:54.

Grace Pyle was also a top 10 placer, in 9th, with a 20:44. Leila Tewahade crossed in 17th and Emma Witte was 19th to round out the Chadron team scoring.

Sidney won the team championship with a score of 31-47 over the Cards.

Gavin Sloan is the only Cardinal boy heading to state after placing 14th with a time of 17:38. Teammate Carter Ryan was just three seconds back, but a runner in between denied Ryan a return trip.

Sidney won the individual and team titles in the boys race. Chadron finished 5th.

State cross country is next Friday at the Kearney Country Club,
