Chadron Goes 0-3 At Lexington Tournament

After a solid opening to the season on Friday, the Chadron High softball team dropped all three of the games at Saturday’s Lexington Tournament.

Adams Central scored four runs in the first two innings to grab an early lead as the Cardinals never threatened. Demaris Kelso managed the only RBI for Chadron as they committed three errors in the field.

The score was 4-1 through five complete before the Patriots dropped five in the top of the 6th to seal the win.

It was a rematch with Southern Valley/Alma, the team they defeated on Friday, in the consolation semifinals.

The Saints scored early and grew a lead of 9-2 before Chadron chipped away with a five run 2nd inning to cut the deficit to 9-7. Two more SVA runs in the 3rd was enough for breathing room. Aubrey Milburn and Alisyn Swinney each had a pair of RBI’s, while Milburn finished 2-for-3 with a double as well.

Chadron had the lead against Gothenburg in the 7th place game, leading 4-3 on a Kinley Richardson home run, until the Swedes scored six in the top of the 4th.

Single runs by the Cardinals in the 5th, 6th, and 7th weren’t enough as Gothenburg took the 10-7 win.

Chadron opens their home slate on Tuesday night against Alliance with first pitch at 6:00 pm.
