Chadron Jr/Sr Nationals Split Road Games At Newcastle Posted by Jeremy Anderson Date: July 02, 2021 10:32 am Leave a comment 224 Views The Chadron FNBO Junior and Senior Nationals baseball teams split a doubleheader in Newcastle, Wyoming on Thursday night. Tobin Meyer had two hits and drove in three runs as the Junior Nats used a seven run 5th inning for a 13-6 victory. Quinn Bailey tossed five innings of work with six strikeouts. After opening the game with two runs in the top of the 1st, Chadron gave up four in the bottom of the frame. A three run top of the 2nd put the Nationals back in front, but Newcastle tied things up with a run in the bottom of the 3rd. Eight consecutive runs by Chadron put things out of reach, and moved the Juniors to 8-11 on the season. Garrett Reese and Cobie Bila each had a pair of RBI’s but the Senior Nationals dropped their 4th in a row, 9-8. Chadron built an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th after scoring a combined six runs in the 3rd and 4th inning, but Newcastle responded by dropping eight runs in their half of the 6th and then shutting down the Nats in the top of the 7th. The Chadron legion squads head east to Valentine on Monday and then entertains Alliance on Tuesday and Sidney on Wednesday.
