Chadron Junior Nationals One Win From State Tourney

The Chadron FNBO Junior Nationals are one win away from a trip to the state tournament after blowing past the Alliance Spartans 13-2 at Maurice Horse Field on Sunday night in the Class B Area 7 tournament.

The Nationals pitching staff threw a combined one hitter and used a hot offense to end the game by run rule after 5 innings.

Broc Berry collected three RBI’s and Seth Gaswick and Drew Milburn added two a piece.

Chadron didn’t waste any time grabbing an early lead in the top of the 1st, 2-0, and then added three more in the 2nd to go on top 5-1. Alliance added another run in the bottom of the 2nd but could do no more damage.

A seven run 4th inning shut the door and Chadron put itself in the driver’s seat of earning a trip to Waverly and the Class B state tourney next week.

Alliance and Gering will play tonight to determine Chadron’s opponent. The championship is set for Tuesday night with the Nats needing a single win to claim the crown.
