The Chadron FNBO Junior Nationals outhit Waverly 6-2 and committed fewer errors, but the host squad of the Class B American Legion state tournament eliminated the Junior Nats 4-1 on Monday.

Waverly plated a run in the first and then brought two more home in the bottom of the 2nd and carried a 3-0 through four innings before the Junior Nats tallied their only run in the 5th.

Waverly answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to keep Chadron at bay.

Chadron finished the state tournament with a 1-2 record, getting a dominating 12-3 win over Central City on Sunday after losing their opener in heartbreak fashion to Blair 9-8 on Saturday.

Waverly advances to play Pierce, who lost Beatrice 5-1, in one semifinal. Beatrice will meet Blair in the other. Games were paired as such to avoid first round rematches.

Should Blair beat Beatrice on Tuesday, Blair and Beatrice would both move on to Wednesday’s championship since Beatrice would own a head to head win against Pierce.

If Beatrice takes down Blair, the Pierce Waverly winner advances to the championship and would need to beat Beatrice twice.
