Chadron Juniors Stay Alive At State Tournament – UPDATED

Chadron scored runs in each of the first four innings and staved off elimination at the Class B American Legion state tournament as the FNBO Junior Nationals beat Central City 12-3 on Sunday afternoon.

The Nats collected 14 hits and stamped the victory with a 5 spot in the top of the 7th.

Chadron scored two runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th innings and a single run in the 3rd.

Central City brought a run across in the 2nd and was able to add two more in the 6th.

Broc Berry got the win on the mound for Chadron.

Central City struggled defensively with 5 errors, and offensively had just 4 hits.

      The Nationals try to stay alive Monday as they face tournament host Waverly at 2:00 MT.  Waverly led Beatrice 2-1 Sunday, but gave up a run in the top of the 7th and 3 in the top of the 8th to lose 5-2. 

      In Sunday’s other games, Arlington eliminated Broken Bow 5-4 Pierce blasted Blair 11-1 in the winners bracket.

       Arlington plays Blair Monday morning at 11:00 MT with the loser out while Pierce and Beatrice, the two undefeated teams, play at 5:00. The Chadron-Waverly winner will play the Pierce-Beatrice winner Tuesday at 3:00.
