The Chadron High softball team gave Scottsbluff a run for their money on Tuesday, losing 8-3.
The Bearcats entered the game averaging 15 runs per contest.
Falling behind 1-0 early on, the Cardinals rallied for a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning before Scottsbluff used a five run 4th to reclaim the lead and never gave it back.
Scottsbluff added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th.
Both teams collected 8 hits on the night but the Cardinals committed 3 errors.
Maci Rutledge, Demaris Kelso, and Josslyn Pourier each had an RBI.
Rutledge went the distance in the circle with a pair of strikeouts and 2 walks, giving up 3 earned runs.
Chadron is now 2-4 on the season while Scottsbluff improves to 8-1.
Chadron turns their attention to this Saturday’s McCook Tourney where they will open with Gering at 9:45 am.
North Platte and Holdrege are also on Chadron’s side of the bracket. McCook, Alliance, and Gothenburg make up the top half with the Bison getting the bye into the semifinals.
