Chadron Takes 4th At North Platte Invite

The Chadron High softball team went 1-2 and placed 4th at the North Platte Tournament on Saturday.

The Cardinals opened with a 15-11 win over Cozad. Chadron got a boost from Ember Diers who went 4-for-4 at the plate with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI’s.

Chadron had a 2-0 lead over Seward through 2.5-innings but the Bluejays brought home 6 in the bottom of the 3rd . Another Cards run cut the deficit in half in the top of the 4th but again Seward responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to get the 11-3 win in 5. Sarah LeBere went 2-for-2 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Jodean Chesley also went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Ralston climbed up 3-0 in the 3rd place game. Chadron came back with a pair in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Falling behind 7-2 the Cards tallied 2 more in the bottom of the 5th to pull within 3 at 7-4. Three more Ralston runs in the 6th finished off Chadron 10-4.

Chadron now sits at 13-9 on the season and hosts Gering on Tuesday. There will be a BBQ hosted by KCSR/KBPY starting at 5:00 pm at Hampton Field.
