The Chadron boys and girls basketball team suffered heartbreaking setbacks at Gordon-Rushville on Saturday night. Each game went to overtime with the Mustangs coming out on top.
Chadron’s Laney Klemke buried a corner three with time running out to send the girls game into overtime tied at 37.
Gordon-Rushville controlled the extra period, holding the Cards scoreless in a 45-37 win.
Demi Ferguson led Chadron with 12 points.
The boys game was a low scoring affair that had Chadron ahead just 14-9 at halftime. Dawson Dunbar hit his one and only shot, a tying three at the end of regulation, to knot things at 33 heading to the OT.
Chadron led 37-35 in overtime, but Gordon-Rushville scored the final three points in a 38-37 victory and never allowed the Cardinals to take a final shot.
Collin Brennan had 9 points on the night for Chadron.
The boys and girls sit at 10-6 and head to Sidney on Friday.
