Wyoming, USD Women Back In NCAA Tourney

The Wyoming, South Dakota, and South Dakota State women’s basketball teams learned their NCAA tournament destinations during a bracket unveiling on Monday night.

Wyoming, the champion of the Mountain West Conference, will meet UCLA in a 3 vs. 14 matchup.. It’s just the second time the Cowgirls have been in the tourney, making their only other appearance in 2008.

USD, Summit League tourney winner, is the conference’s automatic qualifier for the 2nd straight year in a row. The Coyotes, an 11 seed, play 6th seeded Oregon. The two teams met in the 2016 WNIT semifinals in what would be an 88-54 South Dakota win.

South Dakota State was slotted the best of the three as the 9th seed and will battle Syracuse. The Jackrabbits are back after a sweet 16 run two years ago.

SDSU will play on Sunday while USD and Wyoming play next Monday.
