Four area wrestlers took home first place medals from the Chadron Invitational on Saturday at Chadron State College.
Chadron’s Quinn Bailey was first at 145-lbs and Crawford’s Kolby Welling was tops at 182-lb. Bailey used a major decision and two pins to get to the championship before finishing off the day with a 5-2 decision in the finals. Welling pinned his only two opponents of the day.
Taylee Williamson and Kenli Boeselager won gold in the girls’ meet at 107 and 145-lbs. Williamson ended the day with three pins and Boeselager used a pin to get to the finals before a 5-0 decision sealed top honors.
Chadron’s Braden Underwood and Fia Rasmussen were runners-up in their weight classes.
Addie Diers was the Cardinals only 3rd place finisher of the meet in the girls 165-lb weight class.
Taking 4th place in their weight classes were Ember Diers and Rhett Cullers of Chadron along with Jarhett Anderson of Hay Springs.
Chadron won the girls team title over Michell 75-72. Valentine downed Mead, CO 165-131 on the boys side.
