CSC Trio Battles At 47th Nebraska Women’s Amateur Championship

2017 Nebraska Women’s Amateur champion Alpine Hickstein is one of three Chadron State golfers playing in this week’s Women’s Amateur championship at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn.

Following Monday’s opening round, Lady Eagle Freshman Kenzy Kanno of Mitchell is all alone in 13th after a round of 84. Kanno parred 6 holes on the day and walked away with birdies on the par 3 5th and the par 5 16th to highlight her day.

Jordan Grasis, a Redshirt Freshman out of Yuma, Arizona, recovered nicely after shooting 13-over on her first nine. She went no worse than bogey on four of the back nine, pulled par on four others, and also managed a birdie on the 16th for an 88 to sit tied for 16th.

Hickstein, a CSC record holder in multiple categories, ended her first round with a score of 90 which has her tied for 22nd. A birdie on the par 5 13th helped her trim her score down to 9-over, but she bogeyed each of the last five holes which included a double on 15 and a quadruple on 16.

Hickstein will be first off the tee on Tuesday morning at 7:20, followed by Grassis at 7:30, and Kanno at 7:40. All three will start on hole #10.
