The Chadron State College volleyball team (4-17, 2-12 RMAC) fell 25-13, 25-15, and 25-18 to the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves (16-6, 10-4 RMAC) in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference clash Saturday night.

The Eagles’ defense was unable to keep up with the Thunderwolves’ high-powered offensive attack. Pueblo landed hit percentages of .300 in the first set, .379 in the second, and .441 in the third for an over team hit percentage of .369. They landed 16 kills and only one error out of 34 total attempts in the third set.

In set one, the Eagles were up 8-7 after two kills by hitters Rylee Greiman and Allie Ferguson. Then Pueblo went on a 15-point streak that included three kills by hitter Savannah Coates and four service aces by hitter Hannah Delor. With the Eagles being unable to make a comeback, the Thunderwolves secured the set win with that effort.

In set two, the Eagles put up 10 kills, five of which were landed by hitter Amelia Berg. Setter Audrey Bennett and hitter Aiyana Fujiyama each had one kill and one block assist.

The third set featured the Eagles’ best effort of the night. They landed 12 kills and only three errors out of 37 total attempts for a hit percentage of .243. Down 19-10, the Eagles went on a six-point streak to shorten Pueblo’s lead to three. During the run, Ferguson had a season-high three service aces. She also had three kills and only one attack error in the set.

The Eagles will remain at home next weekend to take on Colorado Mesa (17-4, 12-2 RMAC) and Westminster College (5-19, 3-11 RMAC).
