Chadron’s Makinley Fuller intercepted a Gering inbounds pass with three seconds left in the game and thwarted any last second shot opportunity as the Lady Cardinals snagged their third win in a row 34-32.
The first half was a defensive struggle. Chadron knocked down just six shots while Gering mustered just four with Chadron holding a 15-11 halftime lead.
The Cardinals took control in the 3rd quarter as five different players put up points in the quarter to give Chadron a 31-20 advantage. Gering wasn’t finished.
The Bulldogs started the 4th quarter on an 8-0 run and pulled within a point, but a basket from Anika Burke and a free throw from Jacey Garrett were enough to seal the victory.
Burke led Chadron with 11 points. The Cardinals are at Belle Fourche, SD on Friday.
