The girls side of the SDHSAA state wrestling meet gets underway Friday and a familiar name is competing in Rapid City.
Former Chadron High state qualifying wrestler Paige Denke is the top seed at 124-lbs out of Rapid City Stevens and has a bye in the first round.
Denke was a district runner-up and state qualifier last winter at Chadron High, becoming the first girl in CHS history to qualify for the state meet. Denke was also the NWSCA Girls state meet runner-up at 106-lbs in February of 2020.
Denke will await the winner of Haley Rodriguez of Belle Fourche and Erika Roth of Rapid City Central in the semifinals.
