Eagles Lead Hardrocker Invite After First Round

The Chadron State College golf team led the South Dakota School of Mines Hardrocker Invite after one round of golf at the Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City on Monday, building a six stroke lead over preseason Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference favorite Westminster College.

Three of the CSC women ranked in the top 10 after 18 holes, led by sophomore Kenzey Kanno’s second-place round of 79. Kanno tied for the tournament lead with two birdies, and ranked No.2 averaging even on par-fives.

Tying Kanno with two birdies was sophomore Kinsey Smith, who shot an 80 to take sole possession of fifth place. She tied for third-best average on par-fives and fourth-best on par-fours.

Junior Alpine Hickstein led the field, along with two others, with 12 pars. She finished the day tied for eighth at 83 strokes.

The other scoring golfer was Brooke Kramer, who tied for 11th firing 84.

Westminster’s Tuesday Epperson edged Kanno by a single stroke to take over the individual tourney lead.

All teams tee off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday for the second and final round.
