Edgemont Wins, Hot Springs Falls In Regional Tournaments

The higher seeds claimed all of the games in the opening round of the Class A Region 8 tournament on Tuesday, but Hot Springs was the only one to win a set.

The 5th seeded Bison fell to St. Thomas More 25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16. That will end Hot Springs’ season at 20-12, their most wins in a season since 2008.

2nd seeded Hill City had little trouble with Lead-Deadwood in their sweep, 25-12, 25-9, 25-13.

Belle Fourche got past Custer 25-9, 25-16, 25-21.

Thursday’s qualifying games will put Rapid City Christian against St. Thomas More and Hill City against Belle Fourche. The two winners will advance to the SoDak 16 for a chance at the state tournament.

Edgemont is still going in the Class B Region 7 tourney after they defeated New Underwood 25-14, 25-10, 18-25, 28-26.

The Moguls will match up with Wall on Thursday in hopes of qualifying for the SoDak 16.
