Edgemont’s Morgan Peterson Class B 3200 Champion

      Edgemont’s Morgan Peterson claimed Fall County’s lone title at this year’s South Dakota state track meet, dominating the Class B girls 300 hurdles yesterday at the School of Mines in Rapid City. 

      Peterson won by nearly 8-10ths of a second in a time of 47.23. Peterson was 8th in the 100 hurdles on Friday.

      Bridget Neville was 18th in the 400 while the girls 4×100 relay finished 11th. For the Edgemont boys, Caleb Simons failed to mark in the LJ and withdrew from the 400.

      In Class A, held at Black Hills State in Spearfish, Marcus Harkless and Jaylen Nachtigall both picked up their 2nd medals of the meet yesterday. 

       Harkless was 7th in the shot put after claiming 2nd in the discus while Nachtigall finished 4th in the 300 hurdles, matching her pace in the 100 hurdles.

      Carlie DeBoer failed to make the finals in the 300 hurdles after tying for 17th in the HJ while the girls 4×200 relay ended up 19th. 

      Carl Massa and Hannah Haertel both failed to qualify in their respective 400s, the boys sprint medley was disqualified, the girls medley was 18th, and the girls 4×400 relay placed 13th. 

       Red Cloud’s Jade Ecoffey picked up her second Class A gold yesterday, winning 1600 after taking the 3200 on Friday. She was also 8th in the 400. 

        Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City Stevens was a double gold winner yesterday at the AA meet in Sturgis, taking the 1600 and 3200. Stevens also won the Girls 1600 sprint medley with Sturgis taking the boys medley.
