The final day of the South Dakota State Track Meet in Sioux Falls saw 2 girls from the southwest part of the state win titles.

Edgemont’s Morgan Peterson overcame the disappointment of hitting a hurdle and finishing 8th in the Class B girls 100 high hurdles to come back later in the day and win the 300 hurdles by more than half a second.

Jade Ecoffey of Red Cloud became a double winner, taking the Class A 1600 by more than 1.6-seconds after claiming the 3200 title on Friday, when she also placed 3rd in the 800.

Her teammate Ashley Blount skipped the 1600 to focus on the 300 hurdles, where she placed 3rd. Blount had placed 5th in the 3200.

Hot Springs got a 6th from Jaylen Nachtigall in the 100 hurdles, giving the Bison 3 medalists this year after Carlie DeBoer had finished 7th in the high jump and Matt Close 6th in the 800, both on Friday.

The Red Cloud girls had the highest local team finish, placing 6th. Sioux Falls Christian swept the boys and girls titles, running away with both. Custer was 3rd in both.

Harrisburg edged Rapid City Stevens by 4 points for the AA Boys crown with Brandon Valley another point back while Sioux Falls O’Gorman was the easy girls champ. The Chester boys and Colman Egan won easily in Class B.
