Four members of the Chadron State College track and field team were declared recipients of the USTFCCCA outdoor track and field All-Region award, in a release issued by the coaches’ association at ustfccca.org.

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team. CSC belongs to the South Central Region, which includes the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Lone Star Athletic Conference.

Jourdaine Cerenil, a national qualifer in the women’s high jump from Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, tied for No. 3 in her event among the region’s competitors. She jumped as high as 1.73 meters (5-8) this season and finished 14th at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Men’s hammer throwers Shane Collins, of Bison, South Dakota, and Daniel Reynolds, of Granby, Colorado, finished ranked No. 2 and No. 1, respectively in their top event. Just prior to entering the national meet, Reynolds put up a mark of 62.07 meters (203-8) at a postseason event on May 12, cementing him atop the rankings. Two days later, Collins landed a throw of 61.94 meters (203-2) to rank No. 2 in the region. Collins went on to place 11th at nationals, earning Second Team All-America honors. The pair were also the top two hammer throwers, in reverse order, at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.

Finally, men’s javelin thrower Quest Savery, of Miles City, Montana, was fifth in his event, throwing 58.29 meters (191-3) at the South Dakota Mines Bauer Open in April. He took the silver medal at the RMAC meet and scored eight team points with a mark of 55.02 meters, and he was about three inches from making the NCAA provisional qualifying list.

All four student-athletes are sophomores.
