Fuller 10th, Cardinals 3rd At State Cross Country

Makinley Fuller placed 10th with a time of 20:39 as she led the Chadron girls cross country team to a 3rd place finish at the NSAA state championships on Friday in Kearney.

Fuller’s 10th place finish is six places better than her previous best back in 2019 when she took 16th as a Freshman.

Emma Witte was the next Cardinal across the line in 31st, followed by Grace Pyle in 44th, and Leila Tewahade in 61st out of 118.

Sidney won their first ever state cross country championship 64-67 over Lincoln Lutheran. Chadron snuck past Douglas County West for 3rd, 95-96.

Gavin Sloan, the only Chadron boy competing in the Class C race, was 71st with a time of 19:07.

The Sidney boys earned state runner-up behind Fort Calhoun.

Crawford’s Paityn Homan was 51st in the Class D race with a time of 22:58 while Tyra American Horse of Gordon-Rushville 87th in the 126 person race in a time of 24:16.

Dusty Brien of Hay Springs, making his trip to state, crossed the line in 110th out of 126 in a time of 20:37.
