The Panhandle had some strong performances at the state cross country championships Friday at Kearney, especially in Class B.
Gering’s Madison Seiler won the girls’ title by 17 seconds in a time of 18:55.8 while her brother Peyton was 3rd in the boy’s race. Gering as a team, though, finished 7th in the boys’ and 8th for the girls.
The Sidney boys also excelled, finishing 2nd in Class C behind Daniel Bashtovoi, who was 4th.
Class D wasn’t so hot for the Panhandle. For the boys, Garden County was 9th and Bayard 17th while Hemingford’s Zane Hinman was the top regional finisher at 27th
On the girls’ side, Bridgeport was 15th with Hemingford 16th and Bayard 18th. The best individual finish was 25th from Sarah Lange of Bridgeport. Hemingford had Carlyl Kresl 61st with teammate Destiny Hanson 70th.
