Fundamental mistakes plagued the Chadron boys in their 56-47 loss to Gering on Tuesday night. Turnovers and missed rebounds repeatedly kept Chadron from finding any kind of offensive flow.
The Cardinals popped out to a 6-2 lead early in the first quarter but Gering’s Brett Pszanka caught fire and went on to score 16 first half points to give the Bulldogs a 26-21 halftime lead.
After a made Gering free throw, Dawson Dunbar buried a three pointer to close the gap to 27-24, but the Bulldogs answered again, closing the quarter on a 13-11 run to take a 40-35 lead into the final quarter.
Chadron had the game within four at 51-47 late in the game, but Gering ended on a 5-0 run.
Collin Brennan had a career high 15 points for Chadron who slips to 5-4 on the season.
The Cardinals are in Belle Fourche on Friday.
