Gordon-Rushville Duo Begins State Golf In Kearney

The Nebraska high school boys golf state championships get underway today at four different locations around the state.  It’s the final NSAA championship event of the year.

Just two area golfers advanced to state play this season, and both come from Gordon-Rushville.

Jace Nelson was the 4th place finisher at last week’s C-5 meet in Bayard with a round of 81 and teammate Tegan Snyder was three strokes back with an 84, good enough for 8th place.

The Mustangs were just six strokes away from sending the entire team to the Class C meet at Kearney Country Club.

Also the home of the state cross country championships, Kearney Country Club is filled with rolling fairways and the only island green in Nebraska, on hole #17.

Bishop Neumann enters as the team favorite after a district team round of 308.  The Cavaliers were 5th in Class B in 2019.

Ethan Smith of Doniphan-Trumbull carded the best individual round at district with a 4-under score of 68.

Snyder will tee off at 8:00 am this morning and Nelson begins at 8:30 am, both will start on hole #1.

Class A is being hosted at the Norfolk Country Club.  Class B will take place at Elks Country Club in Columbus, and Class D is at Lake Maloney Golf Club.
