Gordon-Rushville Holds Off Chadron Girls 32-29

Jayla Brehmer scored a game high 16 points and Gordon-Rushville snapped their nine consecutive losses to the Chadron girls basketball team with a 32-29 win on Friday at the Bird Cage.

Chadron played aggressive early on and had an 11-8 lead after the opening quarter, but Gordon-Rushville started forcing the Lady Cardinals into sloppy possessions and grabbed a 19-17 lead at the half.

The 3rd quarter was a back and forth between Brehmer and Chadron’s Jacey Garrett. Garrett scored seven of the eight Cardinal points in the quarter while Breher had six of the Mustangs eight.

Garrett led Chadron with 11-points, her third consecutive game in double figures.

The Cards take a 2-2 record into a rematch of the Western Conference Tournament championship with Scottsbluff next Friday in Chadron.
