The first time that the Chadron and Gordon-Rushville boys met back in December, the Mustangs built a halftime lead only to see Chadron dominate the third quarter and pull out the win. In the rematch on Saturday night that wasn’t the case.
Gordon-Rushville raced out to a 25-18 halftime lead, and closed the door with a 50-39 win.
The Cardinals struggled to slow down Mustang Freshman Jace Nelson, who dropped in 22 points.
Chadron gave themselves a chance in the 4th quarter behind Justus Alcorn and Dawson Dunbar, as the two combined for 13 of Chadron’s 15 4th quarter points.
Alcorn led Chadron on the night with 14 points.
The Cardinals are now 9-6 and host Sidney next Friday.
