Hawks Rally Falls Short Against Arthur County

A Hay Springs 4th quarter rally wasn’t enough to overcome a streak of 5 straight Arthur County touchdowns in a 42-19 loss on Friday night.

The opening 10 minutes were a defensive batle that ended in a Arthur County score with :41 seconds left in the 1st quarter for an 8-0 lead.

Chaz Twarling would quickly answer for the Hawks with a 9-yard rush just a minute and a half in to the 2nd quarter, but the Wolves would answer with 5 straight touchdowns, 3 on the ground and 2 through the air.

Hay Springs trailed 42-7 going in to the 4th quarter, but stopped the 35-point rule running clock with a Gage Mintken 2-yard run followed by a Logan DeCoste touchdown pass to Toby Scherbarth with just over 4:00 minutes left in the game.

The Hawks fall to 0-2 on the season and take on South Platte next Friday.
