Logan DeCoste ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more as Hay Springs solidified their case for a playoff berth with a 56-7 drubbing of Sioux County on Thursday night.

It took until midway through the 1st quarter before the Hawks opened the scoring on the legs of DeCoste, and followed it up just :30 seconds later with a pick-six from Gage Mintken.

DeCoste threw his first of two touchdown passes, both to Toby Shcerbarth, just over a minute into the 2nd quarter, and then capped off the 1st half with another connection to Scherbarth. In between Mintken scampered for a 53-yard scoring run.

A pair of 3rd quarter DeCoste rushing touchdowns put the game out of reach. Cutter Scott made the score 56-0 with 5-minutes left in the game, but Jack Hunter made sure the Warriors didn’t get shut out with a touchdown run before time ran out.

Hay Springs is now 5-2 on the season and travels to Cody-Kilgore next week. Sioux County is 3-4 and hosts Banner County to end the season.
