Hemingford Cancels Football Game Due To Low Numbers

Hemingford has cancelled tomorrow’s football with Sutherland, saying it can’t safely field a team and that it will reevaluate the rest of the season next week.

A posting on the Hemingford Schools website says the team has been battling low numbers all season, but more players missed practice this week because of injuries – leaving the roster for tomorrow too low to safely go ahead and play the team.

The post says the team will continue to practice and “work together as a Team” and make the decision on next Friday’s Grant-Perkins County game early in the week.

Hemingford is 0-4 on the season with their closest outing coming just this past Friday, a 44-28 loss to Morrill.

Hemingford will have just one game after next week, October 7th at home against Bayard because the October 15th game with Kimball was already cancelled because of low numbers for Kimball.

The Bobcats are currently riding a streak of 9 consecutive playoff appearances that included state championship appearances in 2013 and 2014.
