Chadron State College golfer Alpine Hickstein was awarded the distinction of being the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week, following her individual title at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, Colorado, on Sunday.
Hickstein set new school records for individual round and tournament scores at the event. In less than ideal conditions, and in a 36-hole tournament compressed into one day, the Chadron native won the event by two strokes over the field with a 70-80-150 to help CSC to a fifth-place finish as a team in a field of 14. Hickstein led the field in pars, scoring even on 26 of 36 holes.
The honor was bestowed on Hickstein for the second time this season, as she also earned Golfer of the Week on September 30 for winning the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Spearfish, South Dakota, and helping the Eagles to the team title.
