Hickstein 12th, Kanno 16th As CSC Trio Finishes Up Women’s Amateur Championship


Action wrapped up at the 47th Nebraska Women’s Amateur championship on Wednesday from The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn with Chadron’s Alpine Hickstein finishing 12th, just five strokes out of the top 10, with a three day score of 251.

Hickstein’s Wednesday round of 82 was almost identical to the 79 she put up on Tuesday, scoring par on 9 of the holes and hitting birdie on the par 5 13th.

Kenzy Kanno wasn’t far behind, slipping two spots from 14th, down to 16th, after an 85 in her final round for a 255. Kanno had her first round of the week with two or less double bogey’s and capped off the day with a birdie on the par 4 18th.

Jordan Grasis slipped on Wednesday, shooting double bogey or worse on 14 of the 18 holes, ending her day with a 112 and 291 for the tournament.

Danica Badura, an Aurora native who golfs at the University of South Dakota, walked away from the field with a 5-over 221 to claim the top prize of $300.

Of the 54 holes played, Badura went no worse than bogey on 11 of them. Her Monday round was the most impressive with a 3-under par 69.

A trio of golers tied for 2nd with a 229.
