High School Finals Rodeo Kicks Off Today

The Nebraska State High School Finals Rodeo begins its 3-day run today in Hastings at the Adams County Fairgrounds with over 150 cowboys and cowgirls competing in 13 events. The top 4 in each event earn a berth to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Lincoln on July 18-24.

Chadron’s Haylee Wild is one of 32 giving it a go in goat tying.

Jasmine Dyer of Crawford is set to compete in the pole bending event.

Abigail Russell of Hay Springs is part of the field for the reined cow horse.

Harrison’s Leif Meidell is the area’s only cowboy and one of just six in the saddle bronc riding.
