Though they led early, the Sioux County Warriors dropped their contest against the Minatare Indians Friday 56-33.

The Warriors trailed in the early minutes but tied the contest at six before taking a brief lead over Minatare. The Indians didn’t allow Sioux County’s lead to stand for long, however, and took a 10-8 edge into the second quarter. The Warriors struggled on offense in the middle two periods, and Minatare pressed the advantage with 22-4 and 18-6 runs to lead 50-18 as the final quarter began. Things turned around in the fourth for Sioux County, and they outscored Minatare 15-6 for a late surge.

Sioux County saw one of its two injured players return to action this week, and all seven Warriors found their way to the scoreboard. Sam Skavdahl led the Warriors with eight.

The Warriors were scheduled to face Leyton this afternoon at home, but the game has been cancelled due to road conditions in the southern Panhandle.
