Hot Springs, Edgemont Begin SD State Track Today

All three of the South Dakota state high school track meets start today.  All three are being hosted at locations in the Black Hills.

Hot Springs, competing at the Class A meet at Black Hills State in Spearfish, will have just three individuals and a relay on the schedule for today.

Marcus Harkless and Jaylen Nachtigall are contenders in their events.  Harkless will throw the discus with the 2nd best mark in the state.  Nachtigall, one of the top hurdlers in Class A, has the prelims and possibly the finals of the 100m hurdles.

Carlie DeBoer will compete in the high jump and the Lady Bison 4x200m relay team will take to the track as well.

It will be a quiet start for Edgemont at the Class B meet at South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City with just one competitor in action today.

Lady Mogul Morgan Peterson will run the prelims of the 100m hurdles and could turn around and have finals later on.

The Class AA, South Dakota’s largest class, is just up the road in Sturgis.  All three meets begin at 3:00 pm this afternoon with tomorrow’s action getting under way at 9:00 am.
