Hot Springs & Edgemont State Track Entries Set

The entries have been set for this weekend’s South Dakota state track meets on Friday and Saturday at three different locations in the Black Hills.

The top 24 times or marks in each event over the entire season qualified for state.

Hot Springs, competing at the Class A meet at Black Hills State in Spearfish, will have a combined five individual qualifiers and four relays between the boys and girls teams.

Marcus Harkless and Jaylen Nachtigall are each contenders in a pair of events.  Harkless will throw the discus and shot put with the 2nd and 6th best marks in the state.  Nachtigall is one of the top girls hurdlers in Class  A in both the 100m high hurdles and 300m hurdles.

Carlie DeBoer is also entered into two events, the 300m hurdles and the high jump. 

Carl Massa, in the boys, and Hannah Haertel, in the girls, are both in the 400m. 

The Bison medley relay team and the girls 4x200m, 4x400m, and medley relay teams are all in action.

Edgemont has just three individuals and a single relay.

Caleb Simons is top six in both of his events at the Class B meet at South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City.  Simons will run in the 400m and compete in the long jump.

Morgan Peterson is doubling up in both the 100m and 300m hurdles, and sits in 4th in both entering the meet.

Bridget Neville is in as one of the top 400m runners and the Lady Mogul 4x100m relay team is also in the field.

The Class AA meet is being held in Sturgis this year.  All three meets will get started at 3:00 pm on Friday.
