Hot Springs’ Harris, Schroeder Qualify For State Golf

The entire list of golfers that have qualified for the South Dakota Class A state meet, next Monday and Tuesday in Madison, has been released with a pair of Hot Springs Bison in the field of 90.

Jacob Harris had the best performance by a Hot Springs golfer at this past Monday’s 4A regional in Belle Fourche where he shot a round of 89 and placed 6th. The 89 was just three strokes out of runner-up contention.

Brock Schroeder fired a 10,1 which kept him just inside the top 10 at #9, and punched his ticket.

Vincent VanLiere of St. Thomas More pulled away from the competition with a winning round of 77, 9 strokes better than teammate Brady Strain.

St. Thomas More, Custer, and Belle Fourche finished one, two, three in the team standings and are sending their entire squads to state.

The meet will be hosted at the Madison Golf and Country Club with Schroeder teeing off at 8:20 am on Monday followed by Harris at 9:40 am.
