Hot Springs Rolls Hill City In Season Opener

Junior running back Landon Iverson accounted for four touchdowns as Hot Springs rolled over Hill City 54-0 in their season opener on Friday night.

It was the largest margin of victory for the Bison since a 53-2 win over Pine Ridge in 2016.

Hill City was playing their first 11-man game in 9 years.

It was the Bison special teams that put them on the board first when Senior Brynn Thompson returned a blocked punt for a score.

After Hot Springs punched in a short goal line run for their first offensive touchdown of the season, Iverson would run off three of his four scores in consecutive order to put the Bison up 34-0 midway through the 2nd quarter.

A Thompson TD scamper plus Iverson’s final touchdown of the night pushed the lead out to 48-0 at the half.

A quick score after half ended the game by the 50-point mercy rule.

Hot Springs is on the road next week at Newcastle, Wyoming.
